A 18 m tall Tetsujin 28-go (also known as Gigantor) monument was built at Shin-Nagata, Kobe city. There are several reasons why the monument is placed here.
- The writer, Mitsuteru Yokoyama was born in Kobe.
- Tetsujin 28-go was influenced by Yokoyama's wartime experiences (Bombing of Kobe in WW2).
- Kobe Tetsujin Project’s statue is intended as a symbol of the city’s revival after the 1995 Kobe Earthquake. (Nagata ward, the city’s hardest hit neighborhood which has since been rebuilt and revitalized).
